On the Edge of Change

I feel it coming before it arrives,
a shift in the air, a change in the tides.
Like standing still as the ground feels new,
unsure what’s breaking, unsure what’s true.

Something in me is starting to bend,
not falling apart, just learning to end
the grip I once held on what used to be,
the versions of life that no longer fit me.

There’s excitement here, sharp and bright,
like sparks in the dark of a sleepless night.
A road unfolding, unseen, unknown,
yet somehow it feels like a familiar way home.

Fear is here, quiet and wise,
not screaming alarms, just opening eyes.
It knows what it cost to make it this far,
how many goodbyes are written in scars.

Hope and fear don’t pull me apart;
they sit side by side in the same brave heart.
Both understand what change can do,
it asks for courage, though uncertainty too.

I’m not chasing the shift, nor running away,
just listening close to what tries to stay.
There’s a hum in my chest, steady and clear,
saying: something is moving, hold on, it is near.

Behind the Design

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this.

I don’t know if it’s the energy of the new year or simply the way life moves, but I can feel the shifts underfoot. After years of living through change, I’ve grown so familiar with it that I swear I can almost sense it before it arrives, like smelling rain on the horizon.

This poem was written from that in-between space, where excitement and fear exist side by side. Where something new is forming, even if its shape isn’t clear yet. A reminder that uncertainty doesn’t cancel courage, they often arrive together.

Something is shifting.
And that, too, can be a kind of hope.

Wishing you all a Happy New Year.

With love and light,
Wendi
